Online: GM Risk Assessment (v2) OnlineUpdated
An on-demand online training course that explains what to consider when assessing the risk of work with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), requirements for notification to the HSE and how to assign the appropriate activity class and containment level for your work.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Describe which regulations govern the University’s work on GMOs.
- Follow the appropriate approval processes for proposed GM work.
- Propose suitable steps to reduce or control the hazards of GM work.
- Complete a GM risk assessment form using appropriate sources for information.
This module will take approximately 90 minutes to complete.
At the end you will be required to test your knowledge by completing the quiz (allow another 30 min for this).

The aim of this module is to enable group leaders and users of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to create a suitable and sufficient risk assessment as required under the Genetically Modified Organisms (Contained Use) Regulations 2014.
