Physics Health & Safety - In-Lab Induction for Users of HF Wet Bench in SP Processing Cleanroom BeginnersNew
This is an in-lab induction with an experienced HF user, designed to provide the attendee with the information needed to become an authorised user.
University of Cambridge Department of Physics staff, students and registered visitors who need to use of the SP Cleanroom HF wet bench for work authorized by their supervisor/host.
You will need to have completed the University Safety Office online course "Using Hydrofluoric Acid Safely", as well as attending the "Cleanroom Safety Talk - Semiconductor Physics" and "General Induction for Users of SP Cleanroom".
By the end of the session, attendees will have the information necessary to be able to start observation or use of hydrofluoric acid (HF) with an authorised user before becoming an authorised user themselves.
In particular, they will be able to:
- describe the local rules for using HF
- identify, wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
- explain how to dispose of HF waste safely
- complete the required documentation
- initiate the next steps for becoming an authorised HF user
To ensure all users of the HF wetbench understand how to avoid/control the serious risks of being splashed with HF (or exposing others to HF) so as to prevent death or serious injury.
In-lab instruction
1 hour
This course will be repeated when there are enough new users - please 'Register Interest'
