Description

In this course we will introduce the duties of the Departmental Biological Safety Officer (DBSO) role and how it fits into the broader structure of biological safety management at the University.

Target audience
  • Biological Safety Officers (BSOs) in the University
  • Further details regarding the HSRF eligibility criteria are available
Objectives

By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Explain the responsibilities, duties and limitations of the BSO role
  • Explain the structure through which biosafety is managed in the University
  • Explain the structure and function of biosafety committees in the University
  • Describe how a DBSO might be expected to participate in both internal and external audits and inspections
  • Identify what further training is available for BSOs and others involved in biological work at the University
