Lean Practitioner Course (LCS 1b)

Description
  • The course provides an LCS accredited Lean Practitioner qualification. The course involves a 2-day training session followed by completion of a 6-week project.

Target audience
Prerequisites
  • In order to gain a place on the course the following criteria will apply
    • Staff member who has attended the Introduction to Lean in HE - Making Improvements in the Workplace course
    • Completion of an open-book "LCS1a" on-line test (this will then provide LCS1a accreditation).
    • Candidates who attended the Introduction to Lean Course prior to March 2020 will be offered a short bridging course in order to support completion of the LCS1a assessment
    • Commitment to attend on the specified dates

Objectives

Within this course you will: ​

  • Undertake activities to explore customer and stakeholder value, demand and the ‘voice of the customer’​
  • Analyse a process/value stream through the application of mapping and other diagnostic techniques​
  • Explore and understand basic data gathering and statistical techniques to help diagnose and solve problems ​
  • Use problem-solving techniques to identify and define problems and issues and improve processes and quality​
  • Understand how to implement quick wins and plan and communicate the recommendations for further improvement​

Charging
  • University departments and colleges: £200 (VAT not applicable)

The fee includes:

  • Instructor-led tuition
  • Courseware
  • Support and advice during project phase
  • Professional certification at Lean Practitioner level (green belt equivalent) and access to LCS resources (dependent on project completion)
