This interactive workshop is designed to give an overview and introduction to mentoring, informing participants about what mentoring is and giving them the opportunity to explore the key benefits for mentors and mentees. There will be the opportunity to learn some key skills needed to both mentor and be mentored effectively, and to become familiar with some simple models, tools and techniques to support the mentoring partnership to maximise its value and impact. |

This session aims to provide an understanding of the prevalence, myths and stereotypes surrounding sexual violence as a background to learn the skills to appropriately respond to disclosures from students and others. There will be a focus on the practicalities of dealing with someone in distress, what to do in the event of being a first point of disclosure, what questions to ask and what to record. The session will also discuss how to think about risk and will provide an outline of the support and the University and police reporting options available. |

Virtual Writing Retreats

Do you have a deadline coming up or a piece of writing that’s long overdue? Or maybe some data analysis that keeps slipping to the bottom of your to-do list? Our online retreats give you time, peace, and space to think and write. Each session will provide a friendly and constructive environment in which to meet like-minded peers, discuss challenges, and work in a focused way using the Pomodoro technique. These virtual retreats are being hosted collaboratively across several institutions to encourage researchers across career stages and institutions to come together in a sustainable writing environment. The retreats will take place several times per month throughout the academic year and you can attend as many as you like (within booking limits for each session). The team will be available every week, each mentor offering two sessions of 30 minutes in the day and time indicated above. We will release new slots in the same days and times a couple of months in advance. Please note that the Conversation Hours will be delivered online This conversation hour offers learners with an independent conversational ability (B2 level upwards) a chance to practise speaking French with others in a relaxed and informal group led by a native-speaker facilitator. The content of the sessions is decided by the participants, with members taking turns to propose a topic and source materials (newspaper articles, web-links, videos etc.) to use as a basis for discussion. The groups are ideal for those who wish to retain or improve upon the language skills they already have or for those studying for a language degree who would like another forum for interaction at advanced level. Participants from French Advanced CULP are warmly invited to attend the French Conversation Hour. Yoga with Daisy Worzencraft is primarily about having fun, giving things a go, and trying - with a sense of humour and a smile on your face! It's a non competitive practice, with modifications for different levels. All she asks is that you try, and that you practice with a sense of pleasure and enjoyment, rather than expectation, frustration and tension. For Daisy, Yoga has been a consistent friend in her life - especially in times of need - and had nothing to do with perfecting poses! This course will help you understand how to undertake a risk of bias assessment of a systematic review, assessing its reliability, trustworthiness, and applicability. The session uses the ROBIS tool to assess a preselected published systematic review. We ask that you read a paper that will be provided before you attend the session, in order for us to make the best use of the time together. UPDATE: Please note that some Medical Library sessions are taught in person, and some are taught online. Please ensure you check the venue details before booking a place.
