The new General Data Protection Principles (GDPR) take effect in May 2018. Although there is general online training for staff, this is a local version of a CILIP conference on GDPR, specifically for librarians.

In this three hour practical training session participants will explore:
* What type of personal data are you likely to encounter and on what grounds can you legally process it? * How can you comply with GDPR within your broader policy responsibilities? * How can you use your library systems to store, rectify and delete personal data? * In what ways can you keep personal data safe and what happens if there is a breach? * What is the role of the Data Protection Officer and do you need one? * How can you carry out an Information Asset Audit? * What should you be doing next in order to comply with GDPR in May 2018? * Scenarios and questions and answers
