Web Authoring: Java Script for Beginners (Level 3) Prerequisites
This is an introductory practical-based programming course aimed at web authors already familiar with coding simple HTML and CSS. Course participants will learn the basic principles of programming using JavaScript and by the end of the course will have adapted (by editing pre-written JavaScript) three personal linked web pages to manipulate some dynamic content and user interaction. Additionally, course participants will and have the opportunity to publish their finished website using DS-Web.
- This course introduces JavaScript as a resource for enhancing interactivity on webpages and is aimed at current University members (departments and colleges) who are web authors with no previous experience of programming.

Presentation followed by practical work
Notepad++, Internet Explorer and Firefox on MCS Windows
- The practical work will be done on PCs unless otherwise specified, although the course is platform independent and therefore suitable also for Mac and Linux users.
- If you would like to take away a copy of the Web page you create, please bring a USB memory stick. If you can logon to your MCS account, you will have an opportunity to set up your Web pages using DS-Web on that account.
