A series of 30 minute drop-in sessions to talk with one of the Simplifying our Processes team. We offer expert, impartial advice relating all things process improvement and want to support our colleagues on their own continuous improvement journeys. Please note, these sessions are informal, 1-2-1 meetings where colleagues can ask for advice and guidance from the Simplifying our Processes team. These are not workshops or taught sessions. The Simplifying our Processes team will be available 9-10 and 4-5 every Tuesday and Friday - each hour can be split into two sessions of 30 minutes depending on demand. |

A short (10 minute) briefing covering the biological and other hazards to watch out for when walking through the PoM or carrying out independent non-experimental work, such as maintenance, cleaning, repairs to equipment, giving first aid, taking items through to Maxwell and vice versa, OR accompanying others who need authorised access (e.g. contractors). If you will be located at the PoM or doing experimental work, you should attend the full PoM Induction instead (see "Related Courses"). |

The University is developing an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for its information services as part of a series of actions to reduce cyber security risk. Cyber crime is a persistent and ever-changing threat to the University and its people. Defining how IT services should be used appropriately is a significant step in protecting staff, students and the institution from harm. The AUP will set out how everyone who is authorised to use the University’s information services – including University and College staff, students, certain visitors and contractors – can help prevent security-related incidents and avoid harmful activities. These focus groups form part of a wider consultation on the draft policy. More information about the development of information security policies can be found on the UIS website. |
This briefing session is for users of PoM who are returning to the building after being away for some time. The need for a refresher is determined by the Laboratory. |

Medicine: Getting the best results - improving your database searching (for NHS staff only)
![]() A course specifically for NHS staff. Attendees will learn how to search databases accessed with an Athens login (such as Medline, Embase and Cinahl) effectively and efficiently, to learn how to save searches and references, and to create and maintain a bibliography. All attendees are required to have an NHS Athens login. University of Cambridge staff and students wanting to learn similar material should book onto the Introduction to Literature Searching (for University) course instead. UPDATE: Please note that some Medical Library sessions are taught in person, and some are taught online. Please ensure you check the venue details before booking a place. If it is an online session you will be contacted by the training team with information about how to join the session remotely. Please note: this session may be recorded. A webinar providing information on the level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship (duration 13 months) presented by Glen Suttie of Provek, who are Project Management Training specialists and will deliver this apprenticeship. Provek are now able to offer a schedule of their open cohorts which will enable you to select your preferred programme start date to hopefully suit your individual contractual position. Aimed at developing the skills required to run successful projects. This programme consists of 6 modules, each of which have a 1x day workshop training included. You will also sit the Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ) exam and will be externally assessed to achieve the Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship standard. The purpose of the webinar will be to provide you with an overview of the programme, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions.
